Fabian Collis

Fabian Collis is a highly experienced consultant podiatrist with over 25 years of clinical practice. Trained in the U.K., he graduated in 1999 and completed his postgraduate specialization in 2005, focusing on Biomechanics, the Diabetic Foot, Sports Injuries, and Wound Management. His expertise has made him a pivotal figure in diabetic foot care, both in Kenya and the U.K.

Fabian has been instrumental in shaping diabetic foot care in Kenya. He worked with the Kenya Diabetes Management & Information Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, leading various diabetic foot care projects across the country. He played a key role in establishing the Diabetic Foot Clinic at Kenyatta National Hospital, the largest referral hospital in East Africa. In addition, he has volunteered his expertise at Kikuyu Hospital and Lions Eye Hospital, further contributing to community health.

As a dedicated advocate for foot health, Fabian has helped establish multidisciplinary care teams at M.P. Shah Hospital and Lions Sight First Eye Hospital, enhancing comprehensive diabetic foot care. He is also a member of several professional organizations in both Kenya and the U.K., including the Kenya Diabetic Study Group (KDSG), FALGA, the Wound Society of Kenya, and Lions International. His work extends to policy and technical advisory roles, being part of the NCD ICC Alliance technical working group in Kenya.

In the U.K., Fabian is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), The Open College of Podiatry, the British Chiropody and Podiatry Association, and the Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. His international affiliations and experience have enriched his clinical approach and advocacy for podiatry.

A visionary in his field, Fabian has been instrumental in advocating for the recognition of podiatry as an independent allied health profession in Kenya, working through the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHPOA). He currently serves as the chair of The Foot and Limb Group Association, partnering with the Ministry of Health to develop training programs for Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) and promote podiatry across Kenya.
